We provide opportunities for persons with mild to moderate Alzheimer's to enjoy and experience the benefits of participation in group activities and feel the satisfaction of group and individual accomplishment.
Listen to our virtual choir here.
Our members include beginning and experienced singers. Rehearsals take place via Zoom on Tuesday evenings and include coaching and other help as needed. More advanced members provide help for beginners and singers who do not read music.
During the covid-19 pandemic, our performing choir remained open to all members of the community, including Alzheimer's and dementia persons, caregivers, friends, and neighbors. We rehearse online as a virtual choir. Our music includes show tunes, pop music and hopeful, uplifting songs. The tunes are memorable and accessible to all singers.
Our sing-a-long sessions at memory care facilities will resume when it is safe for the facilities' residents and for our choir members.
During sessions, we lead the residents in singing old, familiar songs that can be remembered by most seniors. On occasion, we include holiday songs. The response of the residents has been enthusiastic.
